Complementary Therapist
Val trained with ITEC in massage in 1996 and aromatherapy in 1997.
Advanced training in 1998 with the Shirley Price School of Aromatherapy ensured membership of the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA).
Val also qualified in Aromatic Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Massage and Aromatherapy & Massage for Pregnancy.
Val is now a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. She has trained with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) learning to teach parents how to massage their babies.
Her most recent training is with ITEC where she has gained knowledge about Healthy Eating Advice.
Osteopath - All Ages Treated
Val has been registered as an osteopath with the General Osteopathic Council since 2004. She uses a combination of techniques including cranial, balancing/fascial, soft tissue work and visceral osteopathy together with ultrasound in some cases.
Further training has included osteopathic treatment in pregnancy and paediatric cranial osteopathy. Other interests are helping treat patients who are trying to conceive and Val has completed courses in Infertility, Gynaecology and Aromatherapy and Improving Fertility Naturally.
Previously, as a youth leader various counselling courses have been studied so the psychological effects of pain as well as the physical symptoms are taken into account when any modality is used. In 2008 a course in Psychological Management of People in Pain was completed to further understand patients' needs.
Ongoing training includes the John Upledger CranioSacral Therapy approach to treatment where SomatoEmotional Release is included in the curriculum.
Member of: the British Osteopathic Association, the Sutherland Society, the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists, the International Association of Infant Massage, BackCare, the Federation of Antenatal Educators and the National Childbirth Trust.
